First off, the packaging…

Remember, reading labels is a critical step when following a gluten-free diet. It is important to confirm that there are no hidden, or alternate sources of gluten in the ingredients. If you are still unsure, you can always use one of the 5 best gluten-free apps to help scan labels. The Cup 4 Cup Multipurpose Gluten Free Flour has the ingredients clearly stated on the packaging. They also clearly state that the flour is made in a dedicated gluten free facility- which not all gluten free products provide.

Cup 4 Cup Multipurpose Gluten Free Flour Review: Look and Mouth Feel – Scored 20/20

The Cup 4 Cup Multipurpose Gluten Free Flour has the look and smell of flour. Most importantly, this flour has a fantastic texture that is perfect for making fluffy and moist cakes.

Cup 4 Cup Multipurpose Gluten Free Flour Review: Taste – Scored 20/20

According to the Cup 4 Cup Multipurpose Gluten Free Flour website, it was “developed by chefs of Thomas Keller’s acclaimed restaurants, Cup4Cup’s Multipurpose Flour is the original gluten-free flour and the first 1:1 substitution for all-purpose and wheat flour in almost any recipe. Unlike most gluten-free flours, Cup4Cup has a neutral flavour that won’t change the taste of your favourite recipes, making it the perfect gluten-free solution for your favourite cookies, cakes, cupcakes, quick breads, pie crust, gravy and sauces, scones, muffins and homemade pasta.” Now that is a tall order, but the flour does live up to the hype. I have found that this Cup 4 Cup flour is very similar to traditional all-purpose flour. The flour does not have an aftertaste. It will definitely leave you wanting to use it again in your next bake, no matter what you’re baking.

Cup 4 Cup Multipurpose Gluten Free Flour Review: Misc. – 6/10

Where the Cup 4 Cup gluten free flour falls short is its price. While the package is larger than other gluten free flours, it is still smaller than a bag of traditional gluten flours. However, it is a more expensive product, even by gluten-free flour standards. Despite the price, I would still recommend the product because it is a fantastic foolproof flour for baking.

Cup 4 Cup Multipurpose Gluten Free Flour Review: Final Score – 46/50

In this Cup 4 Cup Multipurpose Gluten Free Flour review, I would highly recommend this flour, despite the price. Cup 4 Cup flour is the flour you want to use when baking for a special occasion, or when you are trying to adapt a traditional gluten recipe to gluten-free. My personal favourite use is for gluten-free cakes, as this gives you a much lighter crumb, that is closer to the texture of traditional gluten flour. Generally, gluten free baking is an expensive (and challenging)effort. So having a flour that you know will work well, takes a lot of the risk and worry out of gluten free baking.

Would love it even more if it didn’t have milk powder in it since I am dairy intolerant.

Hi Dianne,
Yes, sadly it does have milk powder in the ingredients. Luckily other flours in our gluten-free flour round-up don’t https://glutenfreefoodee.com/cup-4-cup-multipurpose-gluten-free-flour-review/.
Cheers,
Elyse
